Stephen P. Gallagher, principal of LeadershipCoach, holds a Master of Science degree in Organizational Dynamics (MSOD) from the University of Pennsylvania. He has more than 30 years of experience in working exclusively with lawyers, and he is a member of the International Coach Federation (ICF). Based in Philadelphia, PA, Stephen's practice is committed to partnering with clients in a creative process that inspires them to maximize their personal and professional potential. increasing client's income and competitiveness, while reducing frustration and stress, and at the same time enhancing professional and personal satisfaction in achieving a more balanced life.

Stephen has been coaching attorneys since 1976 when he worked as a career placement advisor and Director of Administration at Temple University School of Law, Stephen moved on to join several mid-sized law firms, and later, the legal department of a rapidly growing bank corporation.

After joining the New York State Bar Association in 1990 as their first Practice Management Advisor, Stephen gained a national reputation for his writings in the area of leadership skills training. Stephen currently works in a variety of coaching relationships with bar associations and law societies throughout North America. Stephen has conducted strategic planning programs with the American Bar Association, state and local bar associations, as well as The Law Society of England and Wales, and The Law Society of Scotland.

In addition to coaching lawyers, Stephen is an adjunct faculty member in the Marketing department at St. Joseph’s University in Philadelphia. As such Stephen has acquired a wide range of professional and life experiences that prove to be of value in working with accomplished professionals. Stephen believes that teaching eighteen and nineteen year olds helps him gain a greater appreciation of the challenges high level lawyers face in trying to sustain and grow their law practices while trying to maintain a balance between work and family responsibilities.

Stephen has written extensively in areas as diverse as The High Performance Lawyer, Yesterday’s Strategies Rarely Answer Tomorrow’s Problems, and Winding Down the Law Practice, and Planning for Retirement. He has designed and facilitated numerous bar association and law firm retreats dealing with the changing nature of law practice. The National Association of Bar Executives (NABE) published Stephen’s two part article on Bar Associations in Transition (Part 1 - Part 2).

Stephen is currently on the American Bar Association’s Law Practice Management Section’s Publishing and Educational Board. During Stephen's leisure time he can be found on the Schuylkill River rowing with other seniors from the Fairmount Rowing Club.

Stephen & Nancy Gallagher's first granddaughter, Aelen, was born on July 26, 2007.
